Walmart has recalled a nationwide batch of bettergoods Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine frozen pasta, made by Gias Foods, after routine state testing detected possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.
What pasta is affected
The recall covers the 22-ounce bettergoods Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine, sold in yellow plastic packaging at Walmart stores nationwide. Affected packages carry UPC 194346442706, lot codes L6079C or L6080C, and expiration dates of 09/19/2027 or 09/20/2027.
Why it was recalled
The Washington State Department of Agriculture and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services independently identified Listeria monocytogenes during routine sampling of finished products. No illnesses have been reported so far in connection with the recalled pasta.
Symptoms of listeria infection
Contaminated food may not look, smell, or taste spoiled, which makes Listeria especially risky. Symptoms of infection include fever, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, severe headache, and neck stiffness, and can take up to 70 days to appear after exposure. Pregnant women, older adults, young children, and people with weakened immune systems face the highest risk of severe complications.
What shoppers should do
Anyone with the affected pasta in their freezer should not eat it. Walmart shoppers are advised to check the UPC, lot code, and expiration date on the package, discard or return the product, and contact Gias Foods or Walmart customer service with any questions. Anyone who has eaten the product and develops symptoms of listeriosis should contact a healthcare provider.
